At Altenburg-Nobitz the depot is 2,5 kms south of the base. Well hidden in the forest and one of them is completely closed. Two bunkers are from Russian. origin I think they are called Granit-3 and were built with round concrete fragments of bows. . This is very strong concrete which can resist ABC attacks (atom, biological, chemical).Probably there were 3 types of bunkers. The bunkers look like Russian aircraftshelters but these have a first floor where fuses, and possibly chemical weapons, were stored. At the back there's a long corridor, about the 16 meters long ending in a large hall. from this hall you can enter the place where the trucks were loaded with the nucleair weapons. For this job they used small cranes. Regrettably this hall is mostly filled with rubbish and is hard to enter, but we managed :) This way the trucks were loaded to deliver the bombs to the Fighteraircrafts. On 02-03_2008 was the front and the Back side of the Bunker complete covered with mud, through this it is impossible to enter the Bunker!!! On and around the following air bases, of the Russian Airforce in the former DDR, were small nuclear weapondepots: Nobitz, Altes Lager, Brand, Großenhain, Finsterwalde, Groß Dölln, Lärz, Werneuchen, and Neuruppin. |
