The home of the 5-gviap of the Russian Air Force in Hungaria, the base  was established in the 1940 and complete renovated in 1951 by the Hungarian`s an 2000 meter long runway` was constructed. In 1961 the base was hand over to the Russsians. At the beginning of the 1970`s 37 2a/13 hangars where built near the Eastern taxiway for the new MiG 21-PMs from 1972 the unit was partly retained to th MiG 21 SMT. During the second part of the 1970`s one squadron was appointed for nuclear attack and a Granit-type 3 bunker was establihed here, so you could see above. On August 1989 the 5.gviap  was equiped with the MiG 23 and MiG 29.

The Base was officially closed on 20 October 1990.
